Inspirational Day 2015

Inspirational Day - Saturday, May 2nd, 2015

Our speaker this year was Trudy Beyak.
Her home is right here in Abbotsford, BC and she was very happy to come and share her personal journey of discovering God’s comfort. She is also an award-winning journalist and author of
“The Mother Heart of God”.

This is what it says about the book on Amazon.com......

Why don't we talk about God's maternal love? Searching for answers, Trudy Beyak, an award-winning journalist, interviewed 50 global leaders of faith: Ruth GrahamRavi Zacharias,Raymond Damadian, MRI inventor; J.I. Packer, editor, ESV BibleGary ChapmanTony Campolo, Luci SwindollBrennan Manning, Pope Benedict XV1 and many others.

Ruth Graham says this: "When God created men and women to be like Him, women are half the picture." And, Ravi Zacharias agrees, because, according to the Bible, they reflect the "maternal personality of God's love." When no one cares, and you're all alone, God comes close and comforts your soul, as a mother comforts a child [Isaiah 66:13].

What a gift, then, it is to be a mother! The "maternal instinct" to nurture others -corresponds to the Creator, the God of all comfort. Women will no longer need to ask: Dear Lord: Who am I?Discover "50 exclusive interviews" that will transform a woman's life. And there's much more. The Mother Heart of God is a spiritual journey, a personal invitation to every man and woman to experience the love that brings hope and healing to every soul.

Earlier in the year, at our Annual MCBC AGM, Women's Ministry gifted each of our MCBC Congregations with an autographed copy of Trudy's book for their church library. We then asked the church office administrators or their Women's Rep to encourage their ladies to read the book prior to our Inspirational Day.

The books were also available for the women to buy at our event if they wanted their very own copy.... autographed as well!

Our information table!
The tables are ready!

Looking forward to

This was followed by Trudy Beyak's presentation and the consensus was that we all enjoyed her presentation very much! Thank you for the blessing you were to all of us!

 And then came lunch....

Chef Ken adding more food to the trays.

The selection was amazing and very tasty and I must confess I simply could not try everything!

And after a lunch like that we were happy to see that the dessert was kept light!

Our day also included an offering which is divided into 3 portions...
half to Camp Squeah; a quarter to Mennonite Women Canada's International Ministries and a quarter to a local ministry .... this year we chose Youth Unlimited

We also invited the women to come to the Fall women's Retreat and handed out the registration brochure to every women present.

Included in our program booklet were many other things such as our annual report to MCBC as well as Mennonite Women Canada's annual reports to all our women and MC Canada.

In conclusion ... this most fitting poem also found in our program booklet...

Where There is Love

Where there is love the heart is light,
Where there is love the day is bright,
Where there is love there is a song
To help when things are going wrong,
Where there is love there is a smile
To make all things seem more worthwhile,
Where there is love there’s quiet peace,

A tranquil place where turmoils cease…
Love changes darkness into light
And makes the heart take “wingless flight”
Oh, blessed are they who walk in love
They also walk with God above,
And when we walk with God again
There shall be peace on Earth for All.
